How does birth control affect weight loss?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer.
However, soon I am planning on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills… Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman… but what are the possibilities?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Athena,

I can relate. I went on Depo Provera and I experienced weight loss which was cool because I didn’t want to have unnecessary weight gain while on my health regimen. I am sure it affects every woman differently though. Hope this helps :o )

What is a good weight control dog food?

Posted on February 17th, 2010 by admin

My Boxer is 6, and we started feeding him Authority Harvest Baked about a year ago, and he’s gained a lot of weight. So I need to know a good weight control dog food to put him on. And also we have a Boston Terrier that’s not over weight, but we feed them the same food so would it be ok for her to eat the weight control too? Because I really don’t want to buy two different kinds of food, and they eat out of each other’s bowls.

Try a grain-free food. Dogs don’t need grain, and foods with grain often cause obesity because of all the carbs that dogs don’t even need.

Here are some grain-free foods:
Wellness CORE (they also have a low-fat formula)
Orijen
Nature’s Variety Instinct
Innova EVO
Solid Gold Barking at the Moon

For any female over the age of 40, what is your best weight control tip?

Posted on February 15th, 2010 by admin

After 40 years old, metabolism slows down. What is your best tip for controlling weight and staying fit?

I’m not over 40, but I can tell you, that I find eating in moderation a BIG help. Don’t deprive yourself from eating your favorite foods, that will only make you hate controlling your weight. Do some activities that you think are fun- don’t think of exercise is punishment, it is supposed to make you feel good. A good way to lose weight is yoga or pilates. It really makes you feel good. If you want, you can keep track of your eating, but if you forget don’t sweat it. Just make sure you don’t eat too big portions, get regular exercise, and you’ll be fine. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Is it harder to control your weight as you get older if you eat unheathly while being a teenager?

Posted on February 12th, 2010 by admin

I’m doing a report on if it’s harder to control your weight if you eat at fast food restaurant’s or are becoming over weight period as you age
some older people would be perfect if you could answer this question for me.

It is harder to control your weight as you get older, if you didn’t start out being conscious about your weight and health. Also, the longer you stay overweight, and the heavier you are determines whether or not you will be able to tighten up the skin that is the result of being overweight and losing weight. I started gaining weight at 20 because of a medication I was on, but also because I wasn’t watching what I ate because of the side affects of the meds. I have been fighting my weight all these years, I am now 38. I lose it and then gain it again. It is so much harder to change bad habits when you are older, it is easier to start the good habits while you are younger.

What do other people do to control their weight?

Posted on February 3rd, 2010 by admin

I know that I have a tendancy to eat too much, but I’ve managed to get myself from a US 8 down to a 6 over the past few years. I weigh myself every day, walk 4-10 miles a day, and count calories (though I don’t deprive myself of anything). I’m just wondering what else people do to control their weight. I’m just looking for some new ideas

I workout and measure how many calories I burned, and then when I go to eat something bad, I think about how hard I had to work to burn off those calories. It usually causes me to eat something filling but more healthy. For example, I ate a salad with chicken last nite but since I had just worked out I decided to get grilled instead of fried so I wouldn’t kill my hard work.

What kind of foods help with weight control?

Posted on February 1st, 2010 by admin

I know fresh fruits and vegges do but when I eat to much I feel very blowed and uncomtable. When I eat to little I’m left hungry.

Foods that are high in protein and low in carbs leave you feeling satisfied longer. Ultimately you’d want to eat 5 to 6 times per day, small meals/snacks. Avoid carbs for the most part, and use the veggies/fruit for snacks more than for meals.

I am on the weight watchers diet will I start gaining weight if i get on birth control pills?

Posted on January 29th, 2010 by admin

I have been on weight watchers for 8 months and already lost 30 pounds. I plan to lose another 30 pounds to get to my goal weight. I am wanting to get on birth control but I am scared I will start gaining weight. Will birth control make me gain weight?

There’s really no way to know, in some women it makes them gain weight and others can lose weight. It all depends on how the hormones effect your body. Don’t be too worried about it though, if you are eating right and exercising it shouldn’t have a negative effect on you.
