Safe weight loss aid w/ exercise and diet plan?

Posted on March 11th, 2010 by admin

I am about 5′ 10" 168 lbs, male, age 19. I realize that this isn’t excessively overweight by typical standards but I’m trying to take some steps towards getting into shape by shedding some body fat and building some more muscle.

For the past month or two I’ve been exercising on an average of 2-4 times per week for about 30 minutes total each day and am trying to restrict my caloric intake to less than 1700 per day. I am seeing some results but I’d like to take it a step further if possible.

Are there any safe, all-natural if possible, supplements or drugs I can take that can assist me in either burning calories, building lean muscle, and/or reducing my appetite (I have a pretty big one at times)? I’m well aware of the negative effects that commercial weight loss pills can have, but I don’t want something that will do it all more me, just an AID coupled with my diet and exercise. Are there any changes I should make in my current diet/exercise plan to increase effectiveness? Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
My current exercise "plan" usually consists of me biking 3-5 miles up- and down-hill, followed by push ups, crunches, and pull ups. I just started with the latter exercises so it will take some time to build up some strength before I can consider it legitimate weight exercises.

Your still in the normal BMI range, which is good.
1700 calories is about the right amount for a male to loose weight; don’t be afraid to exceed to 2000 (that’s perfectly fine). Remember to be getting all your essential nutrients: about 40-45g of fat (try your best to avoid all saturated/trans fats) about 200g of carbohydrates (keep them all from natural sources such as brown rice, wheat bread, oatmeal, ect) 150-200g of protein mostly from natural sources (only take a protein powder if necessary and if you do, take it pre and post workout) Try to avoid all artificial flavorings. Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup and Hydrogenated Oils
Many people assume that cardiovascular activity is best for losing weight, however in my opinion, weight training is the best method. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t do cardio, but incorporate cardio after your weight training specific exercises.
Creatine is possibly the most used safe supplement for someone looking on gaining muscle mass. In short, Creatine is a substance normally found in your body due to consumption of animal meats. This substance rapidly reproduces ATP energy in your muscles, thus, causing one’s body to perform better at the gym. Creatine can be purchased at your local supplement store (GNC recommended). Be sure to drink a lot of water. 10 Cups a day, I recommend.

Is there a safe prescription weight loss drug?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

Is there a pill my doctor can prescribe to me that will help me lose weight? I am a 26 y/o female, 5′9" and 186 lbs. I know I could lose the weight if I dieted and exercised, but honestly I am lazy and I love food. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

I take phenermine. Dr. perscribed, not expensive, actually you can get it on line. ameripills.com I take the 37.5 mg
I have lost about 80 lbs now. It curbs your apetite, and gives you energy (speeds up you metabolism) but I afraid you are going to have to exercise. Getting past the first month is the hardest, but then you get addictied to it, and you WANT to exercise. I took it without exercising, and it doesnt work as good. You also have to cut your calories. I have done every fad diet out there, and the only things that truly works, for good, is cutting calories, and exercise. those pills just kinda help you not be so hungry all the time. I was also lazy, and I love food like you would not believe. That’s why we are fat. (were for me) I have worked really hard at loosing this 80 lbs, I am so proud of myself for being so dedicated. This is a mind thing, if you really want to loose it, you have to make the decision and do it. There is no going back.
The way I keep from feeling deprived of food, I give myself one meal a week that I do not worry about calories. And only one! knowing that once a week you can have something, helps SO MUCH! After you start loosing and see what you accomplish, you wont want to do that. Mine have gone down to about once a month, and Im fine with that. Right now Im doing about 1000 calories a day cuz Im trying to get ready for a concert and i want to look my best, but 1200 to loose is a good number. go here, www.calorielab.com and www.ameripills.com put your mind to it. I did. And Im not the fat girl in the group anymore!!!

Is it safe to take the FDA approved weight loss drug Alli on prescription Xanax?

Posted on February 19th, 2010 by admin

I know when you are taking Xanax you are not supposed to take weight loss pills, But since Alli is the first FDA approved weight loss drug, is it safe to take while taking a prescription of Xanax?

Please no spam & real answers only if you know. Thank you.

When they speak of not mixing weight loss medication with Xanax, and other benzodiazepine tranquilizers, the general meaning is not to mix it with sympathetomimetic stimulants Sibutramine – which are what weight loss drugs traditionally are.

Alli is the first over the counter weight loss drug, it’s not a sympathetomimetic stimulant, nor is it the first weight loss drug ever. It acts by blocking enzymes in your digestive tract that break apart fat, so it can be absorbed by your body. Without these enzymes, the fat never gets absorbed, and passes out your other end.

So while there is not a specific contraindication, Xanax and most other benzodiazepines are fairly lipid soluble. What this means is that Alli could interfere with the absorption of Xanax – I don’t know that this has ever been tested. This isn’t particularly dangerous, it just means the Xanax will not work as well. Since Alli is fairly short acting, this could probably be managed by taking them at separate times.

As with anything, check with a genuine, licensed pharmacist, or the doctor prescribing the Xanax.

Is it safe for teenagers to use weight loss products?

Posted on February 17th, 2010 by admin

This isn’t an ethical question, but quite literally asking if it is safe for a teenager to use weight loss solutions like weight loss milkshakes and other things of that nature.

Thanks in advance!

This question is a very open-ended question in which there is not a single answer to. Weight loss products can be as mild as meal replacement bars or shakes to appetitie suppresant pills. The answer to your question is going to depend on which products that you are speaking of. As a very general answer, you need to look at the nutrients that a teen needs to get everyday. If the product is restricting this, or preventing the intake of this, then no – they are not safe.

As far as "weight loss milkshakes", look as the nutritional content in each of the shakes. If this shake is providing the proteins, carbs, and good fats that are needed in good proportions and amounts, then there should not be a problem. The problem arises when you get into some of the replacement drinks that are nothing more than an apetite suppresant with no nutritional value.

Good luck!
