Will eating fruit after 7 break my healthy weight loss plan?

Posted on March 11th, 2010 by admin

I am trying to lose weight and eating small portion. after working out today I ate an apple and an orange at 7:33 pm exactly!!

I felt so guilty eating it :( cause I know it has sugar.

Now, does it ruin one’s weight loss plan?

Sorry but you need to get a life – Ok apples and oranges have sugar but they also contain lots of other healthy things your body needs.

Having them after 7.30 is really not going to matter one bit.
It is a good idea if you are on a weight loss program to close the kitchen at 7.30 but please, it is the guilt that is going to do you more damage than the fruit.

Eating after 7.30 rule is out there for those people who go into the kitchen after dinner and pig out on all kinds of unhealthy things.

Just stick to healthy unprocessed food with lots of veggies. lean protein, some healthy fat, drink water, have 2 – 3 pieces of fruit a day and a plate or 4 of porridge in your week and you will be fine.

Cut out the diet food including dressings and sodas, cakes, cookies and food with more chemicals than food and enjoy what you are eating. Don’t get stuck in the diet mentality – just eat plenty of the good stuff.
And on a Sunday – give yourself a break and have a treat.

the difference between healthy weight loss and unhealthy weightloss…?

Posted on March 9th, 2010 by admin

If I lose 40 pounds in 9 weeks by eating little, drinking loads of water, and excersizing.
and if I lose 40 pounds in 9 weeks doing it the healthy way.

would there be a difference in how my body looks? as in, would I look fatter if I did it the unhealthy way?

the thing is that you are never gona lose 40lbs in 9 weeks healthy – its healthy to lose 1-2lbs a week – if you are losing more its most likely water weight and muscle not fat which means you are slowing down your metabolism.
difference – unhealthy – you are gona gain it all back and will have slower metabolism
difference – healthy way you will see results and you will have more defined and toned muscles and really noticeable weight loss, unhealthy – its not all fat you are losing and might e.g. have skinny legs and big belly – its unpredictable.

Whats a healthy, weight loss diet for a 14 year old girl?

Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin

I really want to lose about 30 pounds from my weight and i need help but i don’t want to go unhealthy. i weigh 152 and i should weigh 120 i believe… wats a perfect, healthy diet i should follow and if it means i need to exercise (which i know i do) tell me how long each day and how many days a week.

Diet Plans for 14-Year-Old Girls

Planning a diet for a teen girl can be tricky. Many teen girls suffer from bad self esteem or a skewed body image, and may resort to crash diets that they don’t need to be healthy. Instead of suggesting a diet, suggest a healthy diet plan, where she can learn to eat properly, along with exercise to create a healthier self image. As long as your teen has a healthy body mass index, or BMI, then she does not need a diet to lose weight. A diet plan that can maintain her health is all that she needs.

Planning a Diet
1. When your 14-year-old girl indicates that she wants to eat healthier, or you’ve noticed her body changing, it’s important to calculate her BMI to see where she falls. Unlike adult BMI, a teen’s BMI is calculated and then compared to other teens to give a percentile that she is in for her weight and height, much like you’d receive at the doctor’s office. The BMI can give you a clue as to whether she simply needs a diet plan to eat more healthy, or if she’ll need a diet plan for weight loss. With a healthy BMI, your 14-year-old girl will enjoy better quality of life.
Regular Meals and Snacks
2. One of the most important things to incorporate into a 14-year-old girl’s diet plan is regular meals and snacks throughout the day. Teenagers are especially susceptible to skipping meals like breakfast and lunch: the first because she’s running late, and the second due to pressure from peers to eat as little as possible. However, skipping meals sends your 14-year-old’s body into starvation mode, telling it to store up fat for the next skipped meal. Eating regular meals actually causes a teen’s metabolism to run faster, burning more calories in preparation for the next snack. Talk to her about the importance of regular eating, both for maintaining energy, concentration and focus through the day, and as an important tool for weight loss.
Better Meals and Snacks
3. Too often teen girls eat meals and snacks that are less than ideal. While you want her to eat regularly, you also want her to eat quality food that will help her on her quest for a healthier diet. Make it easy for her by supporting her diet. Send her to school with a variety of healthy snacks like nuts, vegetables and crackers to snack on between school periods, and opt for a homemade lunch over cafeteria fare, which can be greasy and unhealthy. Talk to her about staying full with the right foods, those that are high in nutrients, but still low in fat and calories. Armed with the right information, your 14-year-old girl can follow a diet plan to keep her healthy, and gain eating tools to help her for the rest of her life.

What’s necessary in order to have healthy weight loss?

Posted on March 3rd, 2010 by admin

This is for a school assignment. I’d really appreciate the help.

Eating healthy foods (i.e. organics, a LOT of fruits and veggies, minimal dark meat, ect.) also moderate exercizing. Not too much, but a little bit of exercize is great. Running a mile everyday would be a good example.

What are some great weight-loss/healthy living books for young adults?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

I’m 20 years old, female. I’m about 175 right now, and would like to (in a healthy manner) lose about 35 pounds.

Are there any good books you’d recommend for my age?

There is a book you can get. It’s called The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook by Lyle McDonald. I don’t think it’s completely "healthy" and a lot of people on here will tell you that, but if you want to lose weight fast, it really works. You literally can lose 10 to 20 pounds of weight (of which 4 to 7 pounds of it is fat) in two weeks. I tried it myself right before a trip I took last year with all of my skinny girlfriends. I dropped about 10 pounds, but my jeans were big on me and I felt a lot thinner even in my face. This book has been a blessing to me, and I have shared it with many of my friends.

Ok, so the diet sucks and is really hard to stick to, but it is only for 2 weeks, and you can do anything for two weeks. It’s those long months on end diets for me that are too hard to stick to. So now I just use this diet for "damage control". I eat what I want (in moderation), but when I gain a few pounds, I just do this diet for a couple of weeks and then I’m back down to where I want to be.

The diet is basically a protein sparing modified fast which means you only eat about 600-800 calories a day (the book details what you need for your body weight) but most of it comes from protein. The rest comes from one piece of cheese and unlimited vegetables (not corn, potatoes, carrots, or peas. There may be a couple of other no-no’s I can’t remember). So my meals basically consisted of an egg white and vegetable omlet for breakfast, a grilled chicken breast and steamed veggies for lunch, a piece of fat free string cheese as a snack, and grilled fish and steamed veggies for dinner. I also had to take Omega-3 supplements. On the upside, you do get one cheat meal per week and one carb loading meal. You can also drink as much diet soda as you want, which helped me.

I ordered it off of Amazon a year ago, but I just looked apparently it is out of print and it is not for sale there anymore. But go read the reviews on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-Fat-Loss-Handbook-Scientific/dp/0967145643/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228895987&sr=1-1. I am a total skeptic on this kind of stuff, but I promise you it works. I just googled it and he is I guess now selling it in an ebook http://rapidfatlosshandbook.com/ . You might also want to try ebay or half-priced books.

Only do this diet for 2 weeks and then take a break. Keep in mind this is not a really healthy way to lose weight, but it does work. And at least you’re eating healthy food and not completely starving yourself.

You will have to have a lot of will power on this diet, but if you can stick to it, it will work.

Anyway, I hope this helps you. Good luck!!!!!

Can someone set me up a healthy weight loss plan and give advice?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

i weigh 280, im 6′1, and im a sophmore in high school… i need a workout plan monday through friday, and i need any advice you can give me to lose weight… i have alot of my exess weight in my abdomin area…
i need a workout plan through sunday through saturday

There is nothing more frustrating than not achieving the goals you set for yourself. No matter if we talk about sports achievements, professional achievements or a weight loss program. Therefore, while setting the goals for yourself, you must be realistic, and take all circumstances into account. On the other hand, you should not be too conservative, because this will only slow your progress in achieving success at fat loss.

So how will you set a realistic goals? Well, we’ll start with eating an elephant! What? Eating and elephant? How? Why?! Good question: how? How would you eat an elephant? You can’t eat it at once, right? You can’t just swallow it, right? You can eat it as you normally eat a steak – piece by piece. Bite size pieces, I mean. And it’s exactly the same when it comes to your goals. You can achieve great success at fat loss, step by step, and not trying to make too big steps at a time.

You already know that healthy eating habits are essential for success at fat loss. On the other hand, it takes time to form a habit, so why not start now with the first step: breakfast. Get up early enough to have enough time to eat your breakfast in an enjoyable way, without hurry and stress. Just make this one commitment and stick to it for one week, then for another, and still another… This is a baby step, it’s manageable, it’s realistic. The next step would be planning the times of your meals during the day to fit your working routine.

Your main goal is to lose that ugly fat, and get back to your lean, trim and fit body. Well, this is hell of an elephant, especially when you have also gathered pretty much fat around your belly. Again, we are going to eat this elephant piece by piece. The first step here is to find any old clothes that fit you when you bought them, but "shrunk" a bit (due to extensive washing?) over time. Find those jeans you bought a year or two ago, which are now a bit too tight. Try to put that piece of clothing on. Too tight, right? Oh, you can’t even button it up… Hm… OK. Make this your first goal – lose enough fat to be able to wear those jeans again. If you don’t have such old clothes at home, go to the nearest shop and ask the shop assistant to show you something one size smaller than you are. Try this on. Now make losing this one size your goal. Set the deadline of course. One month to start with? And when you reach this goal, make another smaller size your next one.

The same concerns physical activity. If you haven’t been active physically for a longer time, you cannot expect being able to do all the exercises correctly at the first time. You must accept your being slower, less flexible, and less enduring than you might wish to be. Participating in every training will change that for the better, and your bite-size goal may be just participation in the next training. With time, you won’t even want to miss one. If you took up jogging, start with even with 10-15 minutes with strong commitment to add another 5 minutes every week.

As you can see, you can divide a big task of losing excess fat into small steps, small goals that you can achieve on your way to success at fat loss. This concerns all aspects of fat loss, not only your eating habits and physical activity, but also learning the basics of good nutrition, keeping a regular journal, and doing it all systematically.

Also never forget two important truths: you are not in this world to prove anything to anybody, and losing weight and fat is not a race. It means, that your bite-size pieces of your goal elephant can be as small as you wish, and you can take as much time to process them as you need. Loosing fat that you’ve been building around your belly for years requires time, so give yourself that time. Decide that you want to lose fat, show yourself how much you want to lose as your first step, and do the step. Then take another step, and another. But DO take those steps.

Remember, you’ve been putting on weight for years, and you can’t get rid of it in days. Accept the fact that you will need long weeks to get rid of your body fat in a healthy way. Let me repeat IN A HEALTHY WAY. And effective at the same time. So don’t rush it. You want to be slim and trim and fit, and you can achieve it only in a step by step process.
